Below is a summary of the rules that DnnBlogML will follow when importing from BlogML format to DotNetNuke Blog module.
  • Blog settings: at the moment the module asks the user to select a target blog, where data will be imported. The target blog settings do not get overwritten, so settings data in BlogML format is discarded. In a future release, the user will be prompted if settings import is required.
  • Authors: at the moment the core Blog module allows an only author for each blog. Again the user is prompted for an existing target blog, so the author is already set. For this reason, authors data in BlogML format is discarded.
  • Categories: at the moment the core Blog module uses child blogs as categories. When importing, the module adds a child blog for each category (if not present). In BlogML format, posts may have multiple categories, but in Blog module this is not allowed: thus the imported post goes into the child blog that matches the first category.
  • Posts: are imported.
  • Comments: are imported. In Advanced settings, the user can select whether unapproved comments should be imported as well or not.
  • Trackbacks: the module Blog handles trackbacks as normal comments, so trackbacks are imported as comments and linked back to the trackback sender. In Advanced settings, the user can select whether unapproved trackbacks should be imported as well or not.
  • Attachments: are not yet imported. This will be supported in future.
